Malcolm Tymna
[[Malcolm, Keen-Eyed Navigator]] and [[Tymna the Weaver]] helm this adaptive midrange deck, leveraging Malcolm's Treasure generation and Tymna's card draw to establish a flexible and resilient game plan. This synergy enables efficient resource accumulation, allowing the deck to transition smoothly between control and combo strategies, making it a formidable contender in the cEDH meta.
Strategy / Gameplan
The primary strategy focuses on creating evasive creatures to trigger Malcolm's Treasure generation and Tymna's life-linked card draw. Early game efforts aim to deploy low-cost, evasive creatures like [[Changeling Outcast]] and [[Siren Stormtamer]] to maximize these triggers. Accumulating Treasures accelerates mana development, facilitating the assembly of combo pieces or the deployment of stax elements to disrupt opponents.
The deck adeptly shifts between proactive combo assembly and reactive control, utilizing counterspells and removal to protect its board state and hinder opponents' plans. This adaptability allows it to assume the role of aggressor or controller as the game state demands.
Key Payoffs
[[Ad Nauseam]]: Allows the deck to draw a significant portion of the library at instant speed. It synergizes well with low average mana cost decks, enabling a fast combo win.
[[Doomsday]]: Create a game winning pile and win same turn by drawing with [[Tymna the Weaver]].
[[Mnemonic Betrayal]]: A graveyard-centric payoff that lets you cast your opponents' cards for explosive plays, often chaining spells into a win condition.
[[Necropotence]]: Provides unparalleled card selection and resource generation at the cost of life. Synergizes with [[Ad Nauseam]] by providing consistency.
Combos
[[Thassa’s Oracle]]
Cast [[Thassa's Oracle]].
Hold priority on [[Thassa's Oracle]]'s enter the battlefield trigger and cast [[Demonic Consultation]] or [[Tainted Pact]].
Exile your library and resolve the [[Thassa's Oracle]] trigger to win the game.
Things to keep in mind when winning with [[Thassa's Oracle]]:
If you have an [[Esper Sentinel]] in play, your opponents can cast spells to force you to draw from an empty library with the [[Thassa's Oracle]] trigger on the stack. Make sure to remove forced draw effects before comboing or leave a couple of cards in your library with [[Tainted Pact]].
Removing [[Thassa's Oracle]] before the trigger resolves does not stop your win if you have an empty library even if you have 0 devotion to blue because your devotion must "greater than or equal to the number of cards in your library"
If you think your opponents don't have a creature counterspell you can cast [[Demonic Consultation]] or [[Tainted Pact]] before [[Thassa's Oracle]] to trick them into not countering the spell. This is more dangerous, however, because if they counter your [[Thassa's Oracle]] you'll have no library and lose the game on your next turn.
Win Conditions
[[Thassa's Oracle]]: Combined with effects like [[Demonic Consultation]] or [[Tainted Pact]] to exile the library, leading to a win upon resolution of [[Thassa's Oracle]]'s trigger.
[[Mnemonic Betrayal]]: Casting opponents' graveyard spells to build a decisive advantage.
[[Praetor’s Grasp]]: Search an opponent's deck for a win condition like [[Thassa’s Oracle]].
Things to Keep in Mind
Resource Management: Efficiently balance life total and card draw, especially when utilizing [[Ad Nauseam]] and Tymna's ability, to avoid overextension.
Interaction Timing: Judicious use of counterspells and removal is crucial to protect your game plan while disrupting opponents at critical junctures.
Adaptability: Assess the evolving board state to determine when to pivot between control and combo strategies, capitalizing on opportunities as they arise.
This Malcolm and Tymna deck exemplifies flexibility and resilience, harnessing the commanders' synergistic abilities to generate resources and adapt to various game scenarios, establishing itself as a potent force in the cEDH landscape.
