Aang
[[Aang, at the Crossroads]] leads a Bant [[symbol:g]][[symbol:w]][[symbol:u]] clone combo deck. When Aang enters, you look at the top five cards of your library and may put a creature with mana value 4 or less onto the battlefield. Many of those creatures are clones that copy Aang, so they trigger again. The deck aims to turn that chain into [[Preston, the Vanisher]] + [[Felidar Guardian]] or another combo, with an available payoff to finish the turn.
Core Gameplan
Ramp toward [[Aang, at the Crossroads]], keeping a clone or blink spell for follow-up. His enter trigger supplies creatures, so favor hands that can cast him and use what he finds over hands full of clones with no acceleration.
Use creature tutors to connect the pieces Aang puts onto the battlefield. Keep mana for protection when removal could end the chain, and check that you can reach and cast a payoff before committing to the combo.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Strengths
Clone Density: The deck runs many clones that can copy Aang and continue the chain. A trigger can still miss, so keep a follow-up play or another way to blink him.
Several Ways to Start: [[Preston, the Vanisher]] + [[Felidar Guardian]] only needs Felidar to enter without being cast. An Aang trigger, [[Restoration Angel]], [[Ephemerate]] or [[Icewind Stalwart]] does that, and so does any clone that copies Felidar and blinks the original.
Free Interaction: Blue gives you [[Force of Will]], [[Pact of Negation]] and [[Mindbreak Trap]] to stop opposing combos while you set up.
Weaknesses
Five-Mana Commander: Aang needs five mana before he supplies creatures. Hands without acceleration can struggle to keep up with early win attempts.
Hate Pieces: [[Torpor Orb]] and [[Hushbringer]] stop enter triggers, which shuts off Aang, Felidar and Preston. [[Grafdigger's Cage]] stops Aang from putting creatures onto the battlefield from your library.
Dead Clones: Several clones in hand can leave you short of mana or interaction, especially before you have a useful creature to copy.
Core Combos
Infinite Mana Combos
[[Preston, the Vanisher]] + [[Felidar Guardian]]
Requirements: Preston on the battlefield, a land that returns untapped and can tap for mana after each blink, and a way to have Felidar enter without being cast (an Aang trigger, [[Ephemerate]], [[Restoration Angel]] or [[Icewind Stalwart]]).
Have Felidar enter without being cast. Felidar and Preston both trigger.
Felidar's trigger exiles the tapped land, and it returns untapped.
Preston's trigger makes a 0/1 Illusion token that's a copy of Felidar.
The Illusion's Felidar trigger exiles the original Felidar, which returns without being cast, so both trigger again.
Tap the land for mana.
Repeat steps 2 - 5 to create infinite Illusions and infinite mana of that land's color.
See Win Conditions below.
Note: [[Supportive Parents]] taps any two creatures you control, summoning-sick Illusions included, for one mana of any color, so the Illusions can pay for colors your land doesn't make.
[[Restoration Angel]] + [[Felidar Guardian]] + [[Starfield Vocalist]]
Requirements: Aang, Felidar and Starfield Vocalist on the battlefield, a tapped mana land that returns untapped and can tap after each blink, and Restoration Angel in hand ([[symbol:3]][[symbol:w]], flash) or found by an Aang trigger.
Restoration Angel enters, and Vocalist makes its enter trigger happen twice.
Put the Felidar-targeting trigger below the Aang-targeting trigger. Resolve the Aang blink and its enter triggers first.
Aang triggers twice, so you look at the top five cards twice.
When the Felidar blink resolves, put its Angel-targeting trigger below its land-targeting trigger. Resolve the land blink and tap that land for mana, then resolve the Angel blink to restart.
Restoration Angel has entered again, so repeat steps 2 - 4 for infinite Aang triggers and infinite mana of that land's color.
Use Aang's triggers to find Preston if he is still in your library. Each later nontoken Felidar return then makes an Illusion. Finish with the Preston line and an available payoff below.
[[Emiel the Blessed]] + [[Felidar Guardian]] + [[Gaea's Cradle]]
Requirements: Emiel, Felidar, Gaea's Cradle and Aang on the battlefield, at least four creatures in total (Emiel, Felidar and Aang count), and Cradle untapped.
Tap Gaea's Cradle for [[symbol:g]] for each creature you control.
Activate Emiel ([[symbol:3]]) to exile and return Felidar.
Decline Emiel's optional counter payment. Felidar's trigger exiles Gaea's Cradle, and it returns untapped.
Repeat steps 1 - 3 to create [[symbol:infinity-g]].
Activate Emiel targeting Aang as many times as you like, and use the Aang triggers to find Preston.
See Win Conditions below.
[[Food Chain]] + [[Misthollow Griffin]]
Requirements: Aang, Food Chain and Misthollow Griffin on the battlefield.
Exile Misthollow Griffin with Food Chain for [[symbol:u]][[symbol:u]][[symbol:u]][[symbol:u]][[symbol:u]]. Food Chain mana can only be spent on creature spells.
Cast Griffin from exile ([[symbol:2]][[symbol:u]][[symbol:u]]), leaving [[symbol:u]] floating.
Repeat steps 1 - 2 to create [[symbol:infinity-u]] for creature spells.
Exile Aang with Food Chain, move him to the command zone, and cast him again.
Repeat step 4. Each resolved cast gives a new Aang enter trigger, so keep going until Aang has found Preston and then Felidar.
See Win Conditions below.
Note: Only some lists run Griffin. Build a large reserve of blue first, then spend some of it to recast Griffin while choosing green or white for later Food Chain activations. Aang needs all three colors and an increasing commander tax. This mana cannot pay for Finale or Emiel.
Win Conditions
[[Finale of Devastation]]
With Finale in hand and enough unrestricted mana, choose X of at least 10 and large enough for lethal combat damage, then cast it before combat to give your creatures +X/+X and haste. Aang cannot put Finale into your hand or onto the battlefield. Pay its [[symbol:g]][[symbol:g]] with [[Gaea's Cradle]], a green land you blink with [[Felidar Guardian]], or [[Supportive Parents]].
[[Preston, the Vanisher]]: Clearing the Board
Sacrifice Illusions five at a time ([[symbol:1]][[symbol:w]] each) to exile every nonland permanent your opponents control, to clear the board for your attackers. The Illusions are 0/1s, so they need a power boost such as Finale to deal combat damage; newly created creatures also need haste to attack this turn. Exiling nonland permanents is not a complete lock: lands, spells in hand and later draws can still matter. Get the [[symbol:w]] from a white land you blink with Felidar or from Supportive Parents.
Tips for Playing Aang
Mulligan: Look for acceleration that pays Aang's colored cost, plus a follow-up creature or interaction. A tutor and a combo piece still need enough mana to use them. Avoid hands full of clones that cannot get Aang onto the battlefield.
Pay With Halfling Mana: Aang is legendary, so he can't be countered if you cast him with [[Delighted Halfling]]'s colored mana.
Protect the First Trigger: If Aang leaves the battlefield with his first trigger on the stack, a clone that trigger finds has no Aang to copy. Cast him behind [[Silence]] or with a counterspell up.
Conclusion
Practice ordering the clone and blink triggers before playing the deck in an event. Keep track of which Aang you retain and which creatures your next trigger can find. Aang's departure trigger can transform him at the next upkeep, so check his face before copying him on a later turn.
